Hello Friends of Badger Men's Tennis,

I would like to first thank all of you for your support this season.  Our team really grew as the season went on and once at full strength, we played some fantastic tennis.  Last week at Nielsen during the Big Ten Tournament was special!  We would have loved to go a bit further in event, but the crowd and atmosphere was electric!  Thank you to all the fans that made it out!  You all made it an experience our players will never forget!

The match versus Illinois started great for your Badgers.  In Doubles play, Robin Parts and Sebastian Vile won their match at #1.  A new pair of Gabriel Huber and Lenard Soha clinched the first point with an incredibly tense tiebreaker win at #3.  In singles, we battled incredibly hard, but unfortunately, we could not beat the Illini for a second time this season.  Full Recap with box scores below:

    Illinois defeats UW 4-1 HERE

We are incredibly proud of the growth and accomplishments of our team this season.  We finished 3rd in the Big Ten which was our highest conference finish since 2008.  Individually, Jared Pratt had a very solid season and earned a Second-Team All Big Ten Selection.  What was very exciting about this group was that different players stepped up in different times of the season to clinch or win must have individual matches.  We were 6-1 in 4-3 matches this season which speaks to the team first mentality we played with.  We cannot wait to get going next season as we return 6 of our 8 players and add two very good recruits for this fall.

We truly appreciate all your support and while our last match at Nielsen was a loss, you all made it very special.

Wishing you all a great summer and we are already looking forward to getting back on the courts with this group next fall.

Please enjoy our season highlight video HERE and some fun photos of our last home match!

Wishing all of you a fantastic summer!

    On, Wisconsin!

Hello Friends of Badger Men's Tennis,

We are very excited to share we finished 3rd in the B1G TEN regular season standings.  It is our highest finish since 2008 where we finished T-2nd.  Up next is the B1G TEN Tournament here in Madison where we will take on #6 seed Illinois on Friday night at 6pm.  If weather permits, we will be playing outdoors under the lights!  We are only able to host B1G TEN's every 8-10 years so this is a unique opportunity to come out and watch some amazing tennis!

All information including schedule of play and results can be found at the Tournament Central Page HERE.

Sunday we were able to honor Lenard Soha, Daniel Nuzhny, and Jared Pratt with win on Senior Day.  It is always special to recognize our seniors who have put in so much work over their four years.  Full Recap of our 4-0 win over Penn State HERE.

We would really love to pack the stands at Nielsen this Friday, April 29 at 6pm.  We defeated Illinois 4-3 earlier this season and we expect another very tough and exciting match.  We hope see you there!

Thanks for all your support and On, Wisconsin!

Hello Friends of Badger Men's Tennis,

Your Badgers had a great weekend on the road picking up two more B1G wins versus Indiana and Purdue.  We are now 5-2 in B1G TEN play and in sole possession of 3rd place heading into our final weekend of regular season play.

The weekend began in Bloomington in very tough windy conditions leading to a very competitive battle.  We started the match very well picking up the doubles point and two quick singles wins by Jared Pratt at #1 and Sebastian Vile at #4 to take a 3-0 lead.  However, Indiana fought hard and picked up three singles wins of the their own to tie the match.  Gabriel Huber at #3 singles was the last Badger remaining for the deciding match. Huber was down 0-2 in the 3rd set before winning 6 of the remaining 7 games to clinch the match 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 for a 4-3 for the Badgers.

We carried that momentum to Purdue and again, started the match in a dominating fashion.  After winning the doubles point, we next picked up wins from Tim Dzhurinskiy and Gabriel Huber to take a 3-0 lead.  The final point proved very tough as Purdue won at #1 and then the last three matches were all in third sets.  This time Robin Parts picked up the clinching point with a come from behind win at #5, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1.  Lenard Soha and Sebastian Vile then went on to win their respective matches at #2 and #4 to round out a 6-1 win for the Badgers.

This Friday, April 22nd at 3pm, we host #2 ranked Ohio State at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.  Sunday, April 24th we welcome Penn State at 11am to wrap up our regular season.  The final two matches will determine our seeding and schedule for the Big Ten Tournament here in Madison April 28-May 1.

We hope to see you at our final two regular season matches at home!  As always, thank you for your support and we are excited to finish the regular season in front of our fans.

Hello Friends of Badger Men's Tennis,

We are excited to be back home this weekend at Nielsen Tennis Stadium versus two very good B1G TEN Teams.  This Friday at 3pm we take on #25 Northwestern, and finish the weekend Sunday versus Illinois at Noon.  Both matches are scheduled for outdoors, but we will move indoors if needed.

Your Badgers are currently 2-1 in the B1G TEN with wins over Michigan State and Nebraska.  Our loss came at #4 Michigan two weekends ago.  The match this past Saturday at Nebraska was incredibly exciting as we battled back from a 1-3 deficit to earn a 4-3 win.  We started the match with the critical doubles point, but Nebraska stormed back with three straight-set singles wins to take a 3-1 lead.  The final three matches were all in third sets, and the boys knew we need to be perfect at those spots to get a comeback win.  Gabriel Huber at #3 singles came back from 2-4 in the third set for our second point.  Jared Pratt really stepped up at #2 singles after losing first set in tiebreaker to take the next two sets 6-0, 6-1 to tie the match at 3-3.  Finally, Sebastian Vile (#4 Singles) came up clutch yet again after dropping the first set to clinch the 4-3 team win for the third time this season!

Hello Friends of Badger Men's Tennis,

Your Badgers picked up a very gritty 4-3 win over a tough Western Michigan Team last Saturday at Nielsen Tennis Stadium.  We had a great atmosphere to begin the match thanks to our Women's Team hosting a kids clinic for local Madison youth!  The match, however, did not start of great for our guys, with WMU picking up the always important doubles point with wins at #2 and #3.  Gabriel Huber tied the match at 1-1 with a quick 6-1, 6-2 win at #3 singles.  Huber has been out since January 31 with an injury and his return gave us a huge lift in our singles lineup.  WMU answered with straight set wins at #1 and #4 to take a 3-1 lead with three matches to play.  But your Badgers did not flinch!  Next, Lenard Soha and Tim Dzhurinskiy continued their strong spring seasons with big wins at #2 and #6 respectively, to tie the match at 3-3.  The last man standing for your Badgers was Sebastian Vile at #4 singles for the second time this season.  Vile came through once again, coming back after dropping the first set with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to clinch the dual for the Badgers!

    Full Recap HERE.

Up next we travel to San Diego, CA for Spring Break.  We play #13 Harvard on Tuesday, March 15 at 10am PST and #37 San Diego on Thursday March 17 at Noon PST.  The team is really looking forward to a great trip out West for the opportunity to take on two very good programs.  Our next home weekend is not until April 8 versus Northwestern and April 10 versus Illinois.  Please also mark your calendars for April 28-May 1 as we get set to host the Big Ten Team Championships.  We hope to see you back at Nielsen Tennis Stadium soon!

As always, thank you for all your support!

Hello Friends of Badger Men's Tennis,

We had a great weekend on the road in the Pacific Northwest splitting a pair of matches versus the Pac-12.  We started the weekend with a very good win over a tough Oregon team.  Oregon has had a very solid start to their season including a huge home win over Pepperdine, but your Badgers were up to the task.  We started off strong by winning the doubles point, and getting a quick win by Daniel Nuzhny at #6 to put us up 2-0.  After a loss at #1, Sebastian Vile earned a straight set win at #4 to put us up 3-1.  The clinching point would prove very tough to win as we were in 3rd sets in the final three matches.  Tim Dzhurinskiy came up with the clinching 4th point with a 2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-4 win after saving match point in the second set.  Parts capped off the 5-2 team win with another come from behind singles 3-set win for the Badgers.

Sunday's match versus Washington proved to be a little too tough.  We started the morning great earning the doubles point with wins at #1 and #3.  Unfortunately, we could only pick up one win in singles with Dzhurinskiy at #5.  Washington is currently 9-3 and just came off hosting the ITA National Team Indoor Championships and was very sharp on their home courts.

We are very excited to play back at home this Saturday at Noon versus a very good Western Michigan team.  WMU has played a tough schedule so far and is currently 4-5 on the season including a 6-1 win over Michigan State.  We expect a very competitive match and having a great crowd will certainly help us this Saturday.  Hope to see you at Nielsen Tennis Stadium (Indoors) this Saturday at Noon!
